This is the first time I ever heard of ds106 and after doing some research (which took longer than I expected I found the site to be somewhat confusing and overwhelming at the same time, the site is linked at the end of this blog) I learned that its about creating an online identity for yourself as a platform to tell your story through a variety of ways and interact with others who you previously wouldn’t have interaction with otherwise. This concept to me was what is most interesting about ds106 is the story telling and interactions with others, however I usually try to do this person to person because I feel especially now a days that technology has created a barrier between people and doesn’t allow the same interactions we had before the rise of the digital age.
As a person who tries to keep a minimal digital footprint this concept was somewhat weird for me trying to build an online identity, but its a challenge and sometimes going outside of your comfort zone and experiencing something new allows you to truly grow. I have always liked hearing peoples stories because everyone has an interesting story about how they got to where they are and what caused them to get there either good or bad, and even though I find it much more interesting to hear these stories from people first hand, it is interesting to me to be able to see peoples adventures through different ways other than just words, this part of ds106 has interested me the most, how people will use different sounds, videos, pictures, words to tell their story and what stories they choose to share.
Also connecting with a wide range of people with the same interests or even just interests into what your telling is another great feature of ds106 because it allows for greater input and ideas from others who like I said before you would never of had any interactions with before. The one thing for me at least that will be the biggest challenge is having 30 straight days of doing something, even though it will be a challenge I am looking forward to it, and also looking forward to the interactions with others and seeing their ideas and stories through a variety of ways.

I thought that their website was a little confusing as well. I thought I found what I was looking for, but then ended up lost again. The information I did find though was helpful. I feel the sense that you would not be the type of teacher to use this course. In what ways you could benefit from it though?

I could see myself using it as a tool for myself and students to network with others outside of the normal social media and getting people and myself to get outside of their comfort zone
